Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial was established to honor those who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812 and to celebrate the long-lasting peace between Britain, Canada, and the U.S. The memorial, a Doric column, rising 352 ft. over Lake Erie is situated five miles from the longest undefended border in the world. Stop in the visitor's center featuring displays, a video theater, and gift shop. Daily ranger programs will be offered for all ages. Additionally, the park is hosting many special events such as the Put-in-Bay Music Festival June 9. Other planned events include a Freedom concert and fireworks on July 4, World Ranger Day on July 31, and the signature Historic Weekend event Sept 7-9. Visit the website for a complete list of events. The grounds and Visitor Center will be open: May 19-Sept 9 daily 10 am-6 pm; Sept 10-30 daily 10 am-5 pm; Oct 5-22 Fri-Mon 10 am-5 pm.
